Can you introduce your charity and provide an overview of its mission and purpose?

Founded in November 1997, the Cyprus Association for Children with Cancer and Related Diseases, known as “One Dream One Wish,” was established by a dedicated group of parents and volunteers. Our charity is driven by a mission to bring light and support to children battling cancer, leukemia, and other blood diseases. We focus on three main areas: fulfilling the heartfelt wishes of these brave children, providing economic assistance to their families, and offering psychological support to both the children and their families.

What inspired the establishment of your charity, and what motivated its founders to address this particular cause? Are there any specific populations or communities that your charity focuses on serving? What led to the decision to prioritize these groups?

The charity was born out of the struggles faced by parents of seriously ill children. The high costs of treatment, especially when seeking care abroad, often place a tremendous financial burden on families. In many cases, parents are unable to fulfill simple, yet profound, wishes expressed by their ill children due to the overwhelming strain. By granting these wishes, we aim to offer a glimmer of hope and encourage these young individuals to envision a brighter future. Our dedicated volunteers support these children from diagnosis through recovery, providing unwavering emotional and practical assistance.

This year, funds from the marathon will continue to assist all cancer-affected children in Cyprus, including those receiving treatment abroad. Our charity remains committed to supporting every child in need, regardless of their background or circumstances.
